This Exhibition is About the Armenian Woman’s Strength, Creative Mind, Living in the Most Difficult Times, Her Supernatural Ability of Inspiring Hope: Vahan Naribekyan

In January 2021, a group of Armenian women created Sewing Hope for Armenia NGO as a social enterprise to help the women, who lost their husbands in the 44-day war or became disabled during the war. Today, Sewing Hope for Armenia company provides stable job for 14 women from Artsakh, teaching them the skills of making bags, fashion accessories and creating house décor products, which bear ornaments characteristic to the Armenian art.

On May 18, the exhibition of the Artsakh women’s products was organized in the entrance hall of the National Assembly to present the main idea of the project and the products created by the women to a wider groups of the society.

Welcoming the attendees, the NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan noted that exhibitions are often organized in parliament, but the presented works are special.

“This exhibition is about the Armenian woman’s strength, creative mind, living in the most difficult times, her supernatural ability of inspiring hope,” he said.

Vahan Naribekyan underlined that Sewing Hope for Armenia NGO is the best idea that should unite all of us to overcome the difficulties and build a firm and solidary state.

The representative of the Sewing Hope for Armenia NGO Areg Khastureci, presenting the history of the creation of the social enterprise and its goal, noted that the basis has been the idea women help the women. 10 sewing machines were installed for that purpose, which will provide the women with job and will enable them to make bags and accessories from the coloured national fabric, being the ambassadors of their cultural heritage and handicrafts.
